Writing My First WordPress Plugin

This morning I woke pretty late. Well, it was Saturday what else you could expect? Like always I was checking my email and that’s when I saw a message from my longtime online buddy from India, Krishnan. He poked me on Google Hangout just to say that his WordPress site is working and he’s very excited about it. He was using Blogger for couple of years and finally decided to move to self hosted WordPress site. So, congratulations Krishnan.

So, this morning I was showing him some of the snippets that I wrote in the past for WordPress. That’s when he asked me to publish some of my snippet as a plugin so that other WordPress users can use them. Frankly speaking, I wrote number of snippets over the years on various WP related issues and I never felt like writing a plugin for anything. I wrote those snippets because at certain point I had to come up with my own solutions to solve certain problem.

WordPress PluginsWordPress Plugins.

His idea of publishing Plugins actually got stuck in my brain. I thought about it throughout the day and finally decided to release a simple plugin and see how it goes. This evening I submitted my first plugin AdminPad to WordPress.org and I am really excited about it. This is a simple plugin that would allow WP site admins to write down some simple notes for future use. I already wrote a post on this topic last year. So, I thought let’s give it a shot with this, I got nothing to loose.

In any case I would like to thank Krishnan for making me doing this. Now, finger crossed and wish me luck.
