I have used number of Kingston flash drive over the years and I never had any issue with any one of them. Today I will be focusing on one of them which belongs to DataTraveler SE9 series of 16GB model. I couldn’t remember when I purchased this little drive but checking my Amazon account revealed it was back in mid 2016.

One important factor that I must mention is that it’s a USB 2.0 model. Generally speaking USB 2.0 devices are naturally slower than all the USB 3.0 drives, that no brainer. To me, that’s not the main focal point here though. I think end of the day it all comes down to the issue of how exactly it is going to be used for. If you are carrying large files you definitely need faster speed. In my case, I mostly used it for office documents or flac music for my stereo. Now a days I am using it as my Windows 10 boot-able drive.

Unlike many USB drive with plastic case or enclosure, this drive has metal casing and it’s really strong. There’s a large loop at the one end of this drive which allows this drive to be hooked with your traditional key ring. It is fairly small and very light in weight which makes it an ideal companion for carrying large number of data.

I have tested this drive’s read write speed with CrystalDiskMark 6.0 and here is the result. Please don’t look out for something amazing.

This screenshot may not impress you but don’t let it fool you either. I am testing this drive after three years of usage and I am happy with the result. I should have tested it earlier but it’s better now than never. I purchased this drive for $4.99 from Amazon and it is still being sold at the same price. At this price range I would pick up one of this USB Flash drive when I feel like I need one. You can’t go wrong with this drive.
